Musician From Parsippany Releases 1st Full-Length Album | Parsippany Patch (Josh Bakan)

With sudden changes and isolation brought on by COVID-19, all roads led back to music for Jared Wohl.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — With sudden changes and isolation brought on by COVID-19, all roads led back to music for Jared Wohl. The Parsippany Hills High School alumnus ended a seven-year hiatus with the release of his first full-length album.

Wohl describes the album — entitled "The Road" — as "pop rock wrapped around rhythmic guitar and soulful vocal melodies."

Under the name Farewell Luna, the self-taught singer-songwriter released his debut solo EP, "By The Morning" in 2012. ReverbNation named Wohl one of its "Breaking Artists" a year later.

But life got in the way, preventing Wohl from recording new music for several years.

"Seven years ago, I wrote and recorded an album with some incredible musicians," Wohl said. "Since then, there have been so many life-altering moments. I've gotten married, purchased a home, became a father to two amazing little boys and changed careers."

The pandemic changed things for Wohl though. Instead of commuting to New York City every day, he worked remotely. With the lines between work and home blurring, Wohl sought ways to decompress. So he hung his guitars on his home-office wall and mastered the tracks for his new album.

The music includes influences of soul and makes evident Wohl's upbringing of listening to Motown, other oldies and alternative rock. "The Road" features bassist Sean Hurley, drummer Aaron Sterling and Andy Burton on keys, who have been session/touring musicians for artists such as John Mayer, Gavin DeGraw, John Legend and Taylor Swift.

"If these past several years have taught me anything, it's that life is fragile, its moments are fleeting and music continues to be my greatest form of self-expression," Wohl said. "'The Road' is my first full-length album — a reflection of the path that has led me to where I am and what lies ahead."
